If you shop local, you’re supporting the local economy:  Money spent locally circulates in the community 2 or 3 times meaning for every dollar spent locally there is $3 of benefit to the community.  According to David Boyle, a researcher with The New Economics Foundation, “Money is like blood. It needs to keep moving around to keep the economy going,”  He notes that when money is spent out-of-town or in large multinational stores “it flows out, like a wound.”
